Exclusive! Montana Man Charged with Criminal Trespassing On His Own Land

Kalispell land-owner Dennis Thornton’s ongoing quest for justice took an unexpected turn last week when he received a letter in the mail informing him that he was being charged with Criminal Trespassing on a piece of property that he owns.

The decision to charge Thornton appears to be a move that was done in retaliation after Thornton filed a criminal complaint charging theft against Whitefish Credit Union (WCU) through the Flathead County Sheriff’s Department. You can see the video of Thornton filing the paperwork below.

Recently, Thornton gave Flathead County Sheriff Brian Heino written permission, co-signed by Bigfork legislator Mark Noland, to visit WCU and physically retrieve Thornton’s loan file concerning his stolen property, a request flatly denied by WCU legal representatives. Shortly after Heino visited WCU to get Thornton’s file, Thornton received the letter informing him that he was being charged with Trespassing.

Thornton, who has been battling WCU for over a decade, hired expert court witness and former Regional Director of the National Credit Union Association (NCUA) Alan Carver (link to Resume’ here) to review the documentation in Thornton’s case to try to determine a solution. In summary, it is my professional opinion, based on my 48 years in the credit union industry (33 years as a regulator and 15 years as a consultant), that WCU clearly committed and violated not only a verbal agreement to finance the entire Thornton project to a total of $7 million, but also committed a breach of a Written Contract involving the loaning of $500,000 and subordination of their lein… Alan Carver
