Power to the entire war-torn country of Syria just went out. The state media has reported a total blackout across the nation, further confirmed by the government. Authorities are still trying to determine what caused the electricity to go out across Syria on the sixth day of supposed cease fire (a cease fire during which 24 civilians, including five women and six children, have been murdered, so not much of a cease fire really).
According to Sky News, “Electricity has been cut across all provinces and teams are trying to determine the reason for this unexpected cut,’ the station said.”
In addition to the power being out, many mobile Internet connections were also reportedly not working across the nation, with Syria’s mobile provider claiming this was “partially due to ‘part of the network unexpectedly malfunctioning’.”
And that’s how easy it is to cut off an entire country’s electricity and Internet.
Gee… what are the odds of this timing? Hollande, Merkel, and David Cameron are all set to meeting with Putin tomorrow ahead of Geneva peace talks March 9th.
