Earlier this week, I received a commentary for another site I edit for by a Christian author who claimed that God is not the cause of hurricanes and “natural disasters.” Instead, he said man was the cause.

He wrote, “God is constantly being blamed for things that are not his fault. This includes natural disasters such as Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. God is not the cause of natural disasters. Man is.”

I called him to repent, even though I understood where he was trying to go with things by saying that because Adam disobeyed God, he brought us all into a world that was then cursed.

While that is true that Adam’s choice brought all mankind into an estate of sin and misery, those curses were given by God.  They didn’t just happen because Adam disobeyed God.  They were direct punishments issued by God.

This week, actor Kirk Cameron, 46, spoke from the Orlando, Florida airport with a more biblical line of reasoning as to what takes place with natural disasters.

“How should we look at two giant hurricanes coming back-to-back like this?” Cameron said. “Do we write them off as coincidence? Do we write it off as a statistical anomaly? Wow! Who would’ve thought? Is it just Mother Nature in a bad mood? I don’t know how you think about it but I think it could be something much more than all of that.”

Cameron said that hurricanes are “a spectacular display of God’s immense power” and he didn’t send them without reason.

“When he puts his power on display, it’s never without reason,” he said in a video he posted to Facebook.  “There’s a purpose. And we may not always understand what that purpose is, but we know it’s not random and we know that weather is sent to cause us to respond to God in humility, awe and repentance.”

This is in stark contrast to my Christians friend’s comments and those of actress Jennifer Lawrence who blamed “Mother Nature” and Donald Trump.

My friend said that God did have the power to stop hurricanes, but left undone the fact that God is in control of every single thing in the universe.

The Bible is clear that God is in control of all things and that things of this nature are a demonstration of His wrath that’s revealed everyday from heaven.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; -Romans 1:18

The Scriptures are full of references to God’s sovereignty over destruction and calamity.  The history of the Great Flood, that was the greatest disaster man has ever known and guess what?  While men were sinning and rebelling against God, God was the one that “caused” the Flood to destroy them and judge them.

One that stands out to me the most is Amos 3:6

Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?

Then there’s this passage about His full control over His Creation.

“The LORD possessed me at the beginning of His way,
Before His works of old.

23“From everlasting I was established,
From the beginning, from the earliest times of the earth.

24“When there were no depths I was brought forth,
When there were no springs abounding with water.

25“Before the mountains were settled,
Before the hills I was brought forth;

26While He had not yet made the earth and the fields,
Nor the first dust of the world.

27“When He established the heavens, I was there,
When He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep,

28When He made firm the skies above,
When the springs of the deep became fixed,

29When He set for the sea its boundary
So that the water would not transgress His command,
When He marked out the foundations of the earth; -Proverbs 8:22-29

Furthermore, Cameron points to Job 37:13, stating that God “causes [storms] to happen for punishment, or to water His land and demonstrate His faithful love.”

One of the things about the story of Job is that it is God that commands Satan to go and do what he does to Job and His family.  Satan didn’t just come up with the idea for it, and God did it to both show the faithfulness of Job and glorify Himself in teaching Job about Himself.

“Remind them that God is the blessed controller of all things,” Cameron said. “He is the one who gives us peace, security and strength in the midst of the storm and that he uses this to point us to him and to his care for us.”

Indeed, even in the midst of things like the destruction left by a hurricane, God still shows His mercy and love to mankind.  Take a look in Texas and you will see that many lives were spared and how the community has come together to help one another while in other places around the word, they lack the means to do so and thousands are killed in the same scenario.

“What this should be doing for all of us is causing us to remember that it’s God who supplies our life, breath and everything else so that you and I would reach out to Him,” he said. “So think about that, maybe share that with your kids when they ask why this is happening.”

Of course, ignorant people claimed that Cameron was saying God “murders” people without understanding that God is the Creator and judges with just judgment.

The message is clear though that God’s wrath will not always sleep.  It does awaken.

If we are those spared in the midst of such disasters, we should humble seek His face and His forgiveness and repent.  This is how Jesus told the people they should respond to when calamity occurred.

There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? 3I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.4Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? 5I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. -Luke 13:1-5

First off, the “world” is not “cursed” as you stated in the initial comments in this article, the first couple paragraphs. It is under the “rule” of Satan and man and NOT under God’s rule presently. However, that will VERY SOON change, as we are at the VERY END of the system of things where Satan has control. In fact, it could happen any day now. All of the things Jesus said we are to be on the lookout for are happening all at once, right now, except for one, the announcement of “peace and security”. Yes, we’re THAT CLOSE to the end, where all opposers of God will be exterminated. Including all who reject God, in favor of religions of the world. You know, the ones God said are “false religion”. ALL OF THEM are included, no exceptions.

Secondly, no, God isn’t causing natural disasters, as He said he’d be “hands off” until after Satan is proven a liar. As I just stated, this happens VERY VERY SOON. And lastly, no, man is not the cause of any natural disasters. God made Earth to be self healing, and it works extremely well. Man cannot affect the world ecosystems to the point where they’re overwhelmed, as the so called “climate change” people keep screaming. they’re wrong, and they’re liars.

But on the other hand, when Jesus takes over rule over Earth for his Father, God the Almighty, for the millenium of “judgement day”, the “thousand years” spoken of in revelation to John, then there will never again be any natural disasters, crime, sickness, hospitals, cemetaries, immorality, dishonesty, governments of man, or the religions of the world. All will be totally gone, thankfully. Think about it. There are THOUSANDS of religions of man. None teach accurately God’s inspired word. No two teach the same thing. And God said they’re all false. Jesus said they’re all “works of the flesh”. And all who participated in any of those things will be gone as well. It will be a much better place to live when these things happen. Could be today, next week, or next year. No one knows, not even Jesus. Only the Father knows. But, we do know it’s very, very close. Jesus gave us the list to watch out for. I’m on the watch, are you?

Well, you said a lot and didn’t support a think you said with Scripture. So, let me correct you. NO, the world is not “under the “rule” of Satan and man and NOT under God’s rule presently.”

That is hogwash. I’ll let the Lord Jesus and the apostle Paul correct your error.

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matt 28:18-20

How much authority does Jesus have in heaven and on earth Emery? According to Jesus “All authority.” You are simply arguing against Him.

Paul echoes this i 1 Corintians 15 where he writes:

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.

24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.

28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

Christ is ruling and reigning now, Sir, according to Paul and will continue to do so till the last day and then offer the kingdom up to His Father. Again, you are arguing against Scripture.

You didn’t address any of texts I cited, nor any of the numerous ones I could point to about God’s sovereign decrees of all things, his attributes, and control over all things nor the demonstration of His wrath.

There is no list of things before Jesus returns, Sir. If you are referring to Matt 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21, Jesus was giving that list in support of the destruction he laid on Jerusalem for their rejection of Him, which occurred to the T in 70Ad and is documented widely in the book of Acts (some of the signs He gave).

As far as the earth being cursed, it most assuredly is. You see weeds and thorns in your yard, don’t you? You see even the Creation, animals and such killing each other. You see a snake slithering on its belly. You see a woman having pain in child birth. All of that is a part of the curse.

14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

      17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

      18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. -Gen. 3

Paul echoes that in Romans 8:

For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

I suggest you do a bit more study on what Scripture says about these things.

As for your comment below, HAARP would not be out from under the control of God, in a similar manner that the devil was not out just doing his own thing when he went after Job. No, he was doing what God told him to do.

It is YOU who needs to study the inspired word of god. I’ve been translating ancient Hebrew and ancient Koine for 45 years, and I have been comparing each individual scripture to EACH OTHER scripture for 45 years. I’ve been comparing “Bibles” to all 16,000 ancient texts from which they are SUPPOSED to have been translated, but weren’t. An example is the KJV which came ONLY from the Masoretic transcript, which is a horrible translation in itself. Most other English Bibles were made by using the KJV and altering it. So most English Bibles are so far different from what God inspired 40 men to write as to bear little resemblance to the originals. And you say I should study God’s word? Twice a year I study each word of the inspired word, cover to cover, and I read them cover to cover twice or more per year. I spend a great deal of time teaching what the scriptures really say as well, all year long. I study with most of the remnant of the 144,000 still alive all year, each year as well.

Judging by your comments, you have not gotten the sense of one single scripture, ever. It’s no surprise, since Satan has veiled the meaning of God’s inspired word from the unbelievers. According to God, an unbeliever is someone who is part of the world, and who is part of a religion of the world, who is not part of “the one true faith” as Jesus taught it in the first century. An unbeliever is one who hasn’t got an honest heart nor an honest desire to know God’s word, and to draw close to Him as a fellow worker to further Kingdom interests. That certainly does appear to fit a description of you. So stop the high and mighty attitude of yours, and learn humility, and then do what God commanded us to do. That is to take in ACCURATE information about Him and His inspired word, DAILY. Using a falsely translated Bible prevents one from doing that. Taking information from false religion also prevents it. You appear to be afflicted by both.

        • September 13, 2017 at 6:59 am

It’s clear since you mentioned the 144,000 that you have no idea of what is being communicated. Are you a Jehovah’s Witness? It’s amazing to me that you don’t refute one thing I’ve put forward with Scripture. So, this will be my last interaction with you as the Scriptures teaches, “A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; (Titus 3:10). While I grant that some translations use poor words in their translation and have been improved upon in other translations, the inspired word does come from Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. I study those too. However, you’ve provided no argumentation from the Scriptures about my claims. Therefore, I will assume you are a blowhard and a heretic and will leave you to your heresies. Anyone reading the interaction can easily see that you never addressed any of the passages I cited nor did you cite texts to back up your claims. I truly hope God will open your eyes and grant you true saving faith and repentance because of the work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

          • September 13, 2017 at 7:34 pm

No idea what is being communicated? On the contrary, it is YOU who has no idea what God is communicating. What is this obsession with rejecting Jesus’s disciples and apostles, who were the FIRST ONES of the chosen sons of God, the 144,000? You and your fellows in “false religion” cling to the false teachings of those false religions, and REJECT the teachings contained in the inspired word of God. You wholeheartedly reject God’s teachings, because you’re told to do so. Ever stop to think WHY they tell you these things? Because: Revelation 12:9 So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is MISLEADING the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.

Satan uses false religion and falsely translated Bibles to do most of that misleading, and you and billions others have taken it in like candy to a child.

What you study are TRANSLATIONS. You don’t study from the ancient texts BEFORE someone put them into a Bible by “interpreting” them. As 2 Peter 1 teaches, we are NOT to interpret ANY scripture. 2Peter 1:20 For you know this first, that no prophecy of Scripture springs from any private interpretation. 21 For prophecy was at no time brought by man’s will, but men spoke from God as they were moved by holy spirit.
Revelation 21:18 “I am bearing witness to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll; 19 and if anyone takes anything away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take his portion away from the trees of life and out of the holy city, things that are written about in this scroll.

So, there are VERY SEVERE punishments in store for ANYONE who adds to or takes away ONE WORD of the inspired word of God. Your quotations from the KJV are from a “Bible” that has well over 20,000 DELIBERATELY mistranslated words, added spurious texts, and other texts removed. It’s NOT the inspired word of God. And anyone using and relying on such a false work is no better than the one who made the changes to it. They too will receive the plagues and punishments that the creator of such a falsely translated “Bible” will receive. Not to mention you can not ever possibly know what God is communicating. It’s impossible. And then, there’s the veil Satan has placed over the meaning of God’s word.
2 Cor 4:3 If, in fact, the good news we declare is veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing, 4 among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through.

Satan is the god of this system of things.

Now, I am not here to provide “argumentation” to what you post. that’s rediculous and quite absurd, and you thinking I should automatically do so, is just plain sad. You’re part of false religion, and you use a false Bible. What you post proves that you don’t even get the sense of any of the scriptures you quoted, so my trying to show you the error of your ways would be fruitless. You would argue to the death that you are so much smarter than anyone on the planet, that your own take on each scripture could not possibly be anything but perfect. Trust me, you don’t know the first thing about God’s word. Satan is preventing it. If you are part of a false religion and use a false Bible, then you are part of the world. Anyone who is part of the world is an “unbeliever” in God’s eyes. You are engaging in “works of the flesh” by engaging in false religion. Whatever flavor of Christendom you engage in, you still engage in the Church of England, because the KJV and any Bible even remotely like it, is not God’s word, but was created with the sole purpose of containing the beliefs and doctrine of the Church of England. So it appears that you engage in two false religions, without even being aware of it. and you have the gall to post what you did. Humility is a stranger to you. Honestly wanting to take in ACCURATE information about God, daily, AS HE COMMANDED US ALL TO DO, is something that you are a stranger to as well. My suggestion to you, is to flee, as God commanded, from the unclean thing (false religion, pagan Christendom) and run to Him, and the “one true faith” that Jesus taught for 3.5 years in the first century.

And just take a look at your quoted scriptures. They use old English, which was OUTDATED by over 200 years when James the First, the homosexual king, and head of the Church of England in 1611, ordered created the KJV “Bible”, which is not the inspired word of God. It’s a re-interpretation of the already interpreted, falsely at that, Masoretic manuscript. He did not use any ancient scrolls. He didn’t go to the only existing sources. He used someone else’s false work. And think about it. No one spoke English in the first century in the middle East. And NO ONE spoke, in the middle East, in the first century, OLDE ENGLISH. Jesus never said any words ending in “eth”. And yet, you think he did.

Why not start over. Find an accurate, or close to accurate, Bible, and start STUDYING it, word for word, comparing each individual scripture to each other individual scripture. Only in that way, can you get anything resembling the sense of each scripture. No scripture contradicts any other scripture. So, if you THINK it does, you don’t have the sense of it, and need to re-adjust what you think about that scripture. You could do NOTHING but benefit from doing so. and you have NOTHING to lose from doing so, except the judgement of destruction you currently are under.

        • September 14, 2017 at 6:49 am

Emery, your reply is like a good little heretic. You claim I only study translations without looking to the original languages. That is patently false, Sir. Your hypocrisy shows through though when you quote 2 Cor from…. a translation:) I was clear that the Scriptures are written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek, but apparently you missed that or have a reading comprehension problem, maybe both. You’re a heretic and as such, I’ve corrected you twice. The Scriptures command me to leave you alone as you are in sin and a heretic. Look it up in the original and you’ll see it means the same as this:

A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; Titus 3:10

It’s interesting for people to note that some of the quotes you provided are straight out of the KJV. I’m not a KJV only guy, I just use it because I know there are people who do. I actually look to the original languages, Sir, something you ASSUMED I didn’t do, sought to judge my heart over the issue and condemn me without evidence (something Jesus warned you about, and exhorted you to judge with righteous judgment, something you have not done), think I don’t understand the gospel and then, you have the audacity to say I’m a stranger to humility, lol.

The command to you now is to repent from your sins and put your faith in the Christ of the Bible, not yourself, and then actually join yourself with fellow believers, but considering where you are now, I assume you are all by yourself out there alone, something the Bible knows nothing of.

If you want the last word, you can have it, but I’ll leave you to God to deal with. I hope He shows you mercy.

      • September 15, 2017 at 1:39 pm

When you post a quoted scripture, why not explain WHY you posted each one. Explain it, each one as they’re posted. One cannot simply take a bunch of scriptures out of context with no bearing on the subject being discussed, and hope that someone grasps your thoughts as to why they’re posted in the first place. What you did is what RELIGIONS do. Since they don’t grasp any of the sense of any scripture, ever. They “interpret” them, which is against God’s command to NEVER interpret ONE WORD of his inspired word.
