Montana sports legend Todd Foster joined host James White on a recent NorthWest Liberty News video podcast to discuss his remarkable career and the traumatic brain injury that ushered its end.
Foster was propelled into worldwide attention and praise after his now classic performance at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea. Foster, who won a silver medal at the Pan-Am Games a year earlier, set his sights on a professional boxing career after his stint with the US Olympic Team. Foster’s decision to turn pro turned out to be hugely successful for him, as he amassed an impressive 41-4-1 record, with 34 of his wins coming by knockout.

As one can imagine, maintaining a spot at the top of the boxing elite takes a tremendous amount of training and sacrifice, which is why so few make it to that level and even fewer can sustain it. Todd Foster not only made it to that level, but he excelled while doing so.
Currently, Foster struggles to perform the day-to-day activities that most of us take for granted as he continues to suffer the long-term and dibilitating effects of his boxing-induced traumatic brain injury, which Foster attributes to “cutting weight” too dramatically before one of his fights.

Foster was joined on the podcast by John Bigart, Executive Director of Brain Injury Alliance of Montana, who is strongly advocating for Foster’s treatment, specifically the benefits Foster has enjoyed by utilizing Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.
